The Birth of MYBACKSPLASH.COM
As CEO/
Co-owner/Co-Founder of MYBACKSPLASH.com, I am thrilled to bring you what I
feel is some of the world’s most beautiful, creative, whimsical, and fun
artwork on tile! This has been a continuing labor of love for me. As a
child I grew up in McLean, VA, 20 miles from Washington, D.C. The National
Gallery of Art was a place of awe inspiring beauty to me. When the other
children were buying candy in the gift shop with their money I was buying as
many picture postcards as I could afford to tack to my bedroom wall!. I
would gaze for hours and hours at the magnificent works of art painted on
those canvases. Although, I must admit, even drawing a straight line has
been a challenge to ME, I learned to appreciate the beauty in all different
styles of canvas imagery whether oils, watercolors, or pastels. They each
tell a story or evoke a feeling that takes one to another place…even if for
a few moments. The point is…it makes one FEEL GOOD to look at something
beautiful and I like it when people feel good!
Mini background: Because
of an accident, I was unable to continue my work as a real estate agent. I
thought long and hard about what I could do that would involve something I
could be passionate about. I love art…I admire artists! So, in 1999, we created this company
to promote some of these most amazing contemporary artists in a medium that
could be used in a lot of different places. Buying ANYTHING on the Internet
was fairly new when we began, but wanting people all over the world to see
what we had to offer… not just folks in my neighborhood…we forged ahead with
a few artists. It took a while for people to find us, but once they
did…WOW! We heard, and continue to hear, the same thing over and over and
over again, “I’ve looked EVERYWHERE for tiles like yours. There’s nothing
like the art you’re offering anywhere! THANK YOU!” And, I’m even happier to
say, they feel even BETTER once their murals arrive!
With such a wonderful
response, I have spent hundreds and hundreds of additional hours looking
on the Internet, going to galleries, art shows, and taking submissions…. to
find as much artwork as possible to offer our clients. It took two years to
collect the new artwork and to create accent tiles for all of them; but it
was worth it! I am truly excited about our selections. With all my fingers
and toes crossed, I’m hoping you feel the same.
After years of addressing
many of the same questions and concerns of our website guests, we feel we
have been able to anticipate and answer most of yours via this new website.
Hopefully we have succeeded. Please feel free, however, to email or
telephone us if we can do anything further to make you feel comfortable,
improve our site, or assist you with placing your order. We understand some
people may be reluctant or nervous about venturing into the world of
ordering something they can only see online. We can assure you, however,
after eight successful years, our clients are HAPPY clients and many have
become REPEAT clients, referring our work to their friends and family as
well. From start to finish we do everything possible to make sure your
experience with us is a great one. Hey…we want you back…not to mention YOUR
friends and family! We are CUSTOMER oriented. If YOU’RE happy, we’re happy!
